Costs of copy, printing and scanning services

Photocopiers

  • Photocopiers are available throughout the library, including the basement, first floor, second floor, third floor and fourth floor.
  • Copies can be made with copy cards available from a vending machine on the first floor. The initial cost is $1 ($.50 for the card with 5 copies) and additional value can be added.
  • Several copiers accept coins and one dollar bills.
  • All copiers can provide enlargement and reduction on letter-size (8 1/2" x 11") paper. A copier in the Brown Fine Arts Library on the third floor, one in Government Publications in the basement and a copier in the Current Perodicals area on the first floor provide ledger-size (11" x 17") copies.
  • A color copier is located on the third floor in the Brown Fine Arts Library. It accepts copy cards only.

Copy cards in the amounts of $25 and $50 can be purchased at the Circulation Desk with cash, check or an IDT (Interdepartmental Transfer form) from your Rice University department.


Printers

Owlnet Account Holders:

Rice University Owlnet accounts can print to printers in Fondren Library. For exact locations ask at the Reference Desk. Further information on Owlnet printing, including printing from your personal computer using the wireless network, is available here: http://www.rice.edu/ITtutorials/printing/index.html.


All Other Users:

There are several public printers located in the building:

  • Reference Desk Area (first floor)
  • Government Publications Area (basement)
  • Brown Fine Arts Library (third floor)

To print from these printers users must purchase a copy card, available from a vending machine on the first floor. The initial cost is $1 ($.50 for the card with 5 copies) and additional value can be added.


Scanners

  • A Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL Large Format Scanner with SilverFast Ai scanner software is located in the Brown Fine Arts Library.
    • This scanner is available for Rice users and the public.
    • Please note that there is no staff assistance available for those wishing to use this scanner.

  • For special scanning needs of Rice faculty, students and staff and their family members, the Digital Media Center provides the following:
    • Batch Scanning
    • Scanning slides, film, images and documents up to 11.4" x 17"
