This document delivery service will save hours of valuable time by bringing the library to you. Services include book checkout; and copies from non-circulating journal articles, government documents or reference materials from the Fondren Collection.

Eligibility

Faculty and Senior University Administrators may use the service for their research and teaching needs.

Charges

Copies:  $3.00 per item plus $.10/page for photocopies from non-circulating items in the Fondren Collection (items that circulate will be checked out to you and held for pickup at Fondren Circulation).

Books and other circulating items:  pulled from the stacks, checked out to you and placed at Fondren Circulation for pickup at no charge.

NOTE:  Incomplete or incorrect information may delay completion of requests.

Turnaround and Delivery

1. Turnaround will normally be within two working days from the time of receipt.

2. Copies will be delivered via ILLiad when possible.

3. Books will be pulled from the stacks, checked out to you and placed at Fondren Circulation for pickup.  You will be notified by email when your requested books are available for pickup.

4. 4. While no limit is placed on the number of items which can be requested at one time, the Fondren Express manager may request extra time to complete a large order.

Requests which cannot be filled by Fondren Express:

1. If the citation cannot be verified, the requestor will be notified via email
   
2. If the material you request is in our collection, but temporarily unavailable, for example at the bindery, you will be advised of the expected date that it can be supplied.
3. If the material is not in the Fondren Collection we will attempt to obtain it via Interlibrary Loan. It is important to realize that ILL requests can take from one to four weeks to obtain.
   
4. If  the material is checked out to another Rice University user we will notify you and request that you recall it at Fondren Circulation.  We cannot recall items from one Rice University user for another.
   
5. If the material is available in one of the Fondren electronic collections we will direct you to that source; Fondren Express does not make copies from the Fondren electronic collections.
