About the Xerox DocuMate 252 Scanner:


  • This scanner allows for single or dual-sided document scanning to various programs and destinations. Using the LED numbers as a guide, you can scan your documents directly to Adobe, a printer, paint, or virtually any program! For additional assistance with this peripheral, please ask an DMC staff member.

    Other features:
  • 600 x 1200 dpi optical resolution
  • 48-bit internal color
  • Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface



Checking the scan settings before scanning:

  • To check the scan setting before scanning, press, hold down,
    and then release, either the Simplex or Duplex button.



  • The OneTouch Properties window for that setting also appears
    in case you want to change scanning options before scanning.
    You use this window to reset the configuration, destination
    applications, file formats, and so forth.


    Loading Documents:


  • Load the documents with their top side down into the automatic document feeder. For Simplex (one-sided) and Duplex (two-sided) scanning, load the documents face down.


  • Check the LED number to make sure you?re using the scan setting you want. To choose a new scan setting, press the Destination Selector button.
  • To scan a one-sided document, press the Simplex button.
  • To scan a two-sided document, press the Duplex button.



    Scanning Documents:

  • Most document scanning will use OCR recognition software, edited using Microsoft Word, and saved locally on the hard drive. To do this:
  • Click on start > all programs > Document Production & OCR > ScanSoft OmniPage Pro 14.0 > OmniPage Pro 14.0
  • In box with the green triangle (pictured below) that says "1 - 2 - 3," select "Text Default" from the pulldown menu
  • Ensure that your documents are in the scanner and press the green start button in the software
  • Follow the on-screen prompts and save your file to "SaveWorkHere" on dekstop





    Further assistance:


  • After scanning has completed, be sure to remove all documents from the scanner
  • If documents become jammed, please ask an DMC staff member for assistance
