Finding & Using Course Reserves
finding course reserves, using course reserves
Finding Course Reserves in the Catalog
- Search the catalog under Course Reserves by instructor name, course name or course number.
- Write down the reading number of a course reading, the call number of a library book, or the name of the book's author if a book is the personal property of the professor who has put it on reserve.
- Ask for the item from the Reserve Desk immediately adjacent to the Circulation Desk.
- You will need a current Rice ID to borrow an item on reserve.
E Reserves:
- If an item on reserve has a call number in the catalog that starts with an E, it is only available on the Rice website, Fondren Catalog, under Course Reserves.
- Access to E Reserves is Username and Password restricted; your instructor hands out this information.
- You can access it with any web browser.
- You need Acrobat Reader to view it.
Reserves Loan Periods and Fines
At the professor's discretion, items on reserve may have loan periods of two hours, 24 hours, or 3 days.
A fine structure different from ordinary library books applies to course reserves: reserves fines are $1.20 per hour to a maximum of $30.00 per item.
