The Digital Media Center (DMC), part of the Fondren Library, provides Rice students, faculty, and staff access to equipment, software, and expertise for creating or using digital media.

• Check out our fall workshop schedule, with free hands-on courses on video editing, managing citations using Zotero, podcasting, coping with information overload, and more.
• Sign up for a teaching with technology workshop, co-sponsored by the DMC and IT; upcoming topics include social software, visualization tools, and student and faculty perspectives on educational technology. Free lunch to the first 15 registrants.
Services
At the DMC, you may:
- • Scan slides, film, images (up to 11.4" x 17"), and documents
- • Digitize and edit video
- • Digitize and edit audio
- • Record narration or make a podcast in our sound editing booth
- • Check out equipment for free, including a digital camera, digital camcorder, audio recorder, microphone, or tripod. Please note that you must supply your own recording media (e.g. miniDV tape, DVD, etc).
- • Create your own DVD
- • Duplicate DVDs or CDs (up to 25 copies at a time)
- • Create animations
- • Create web pages
- • Create or edit graphics
- • Receive informal, hands-on training. (Appointments are recommended and may be made by calling 713-348-3635, emailing dmc-info@rice.edu, or filling out our online form.)
• Use one of the DMC's multimedia CD-ROMs, electronic texts, or linguistic corpora.

The DMC also offers a pleasant environment for studying and working on group projects. Our second floor features lots of windows, lounge seating, a collaboration area with a 50 inch plasma display, and study tables; wireless networking is available throughout the facility.
